Dr. Nidal Isber is an alumnus of Damascus University. Dr. Isber has been an important force in the field of Cardiac Electrophysiology in this country for more than thirty years. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Jersey City Medical Center in New Jersey from 1987 through 1990, Dr. Isber advanced his academic studies in basic cardiac electrophysiology as a research fellow at the VA Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York with the world-renowned Dr. Nabil Elsherif. He also completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the SUNY Science Center, Brooklyn, New York. Migrating to the west coast, Dr. Isber completed his training as a fellow at Harbor-UCLA Cardiology Program at Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Angeles, California commencing his professional career as an attending physician at the Hospital of Good Samaritan until June 1997. Dr. Isber followed his career path back to New York where he was the cardiac electrophysiology attending at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, Columbia University, and St. Vincent’s Hospital.
In recognition of his extraordinary medical career, in August of 1999, Dr. Isber became the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Services at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in New York City and Richmond University Medical Center, Staten Island, New York where he presently remains the Director. Dr. Isber holds several certifications including Diplomat, American Board of Internal Medicine, Diplomat, Cardiovascular Disease, Diplomat, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society. His major research interests are Basic Mechanism of Cardiac Arrhythmias and Radiofrequency catheter ablation of SVT and VT. He is well published and widely read in medical literature and is highly regarded among his peers as an expert in his field. He is an active teacher of the medical residents and cardiology fellows.
He received the American Heart Association Award for excellence in Medicine.
Dr. Isber served as the President of the National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) New York Chapter from 2009 to 2012. During his tenure as President, he focused on the academic and educational aspects of the association, and he created and commenced the first issue of NAAMA Medical Newsletter in April 2010, a consistent publication and powerful source of medical information. Now in its 47th issue, the publication continues to be a bridge between all NAAMA members across the United States. This publication is also adapted by Richmond University Medical Center and is distributed under RUMC Medical Newsletter to upwards of 2,500 physicians across the city. Dr. Isber has been a major influence in the field of cardiac electrophysiology and is an inspiration to his colleagues. He is a model physician devoted to lifetime of learning and caring for his patients. Dr. Isber is held in the highest regard by his peers as a physician of excellence and as a leader in the field. Dr. Isber is married and has 3 children.
